Please welcome to the world Matthew Landon! He weighed in at a whopping 8lbs. 8oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long at birth. Our little guy came in to the world after 9 minutes of pushing with the umbilical cord wrapped around his sweet little neck. The doctors were swift and cut the cord to alleviate tension and stress on Matthew.
As you all know I was passed my due date with Matthew and decided to induce to avoid any health complications with Matthew, since our first, Riley, was 8lbs. 10.5oz. We arrived at the hospital early on May 7th to get started on pitocin. I opted for an epidural around 11:45am and a few minutes later, my doctor came in at 11:52am to break my water. By 1:30pm I was 8cm dilated and preparing to push. At 2:53pm I started pushing and 9 minutes later, Matthew was delivered in to this world. That is right I said 9 minutes. I could not believe how quick and easy pushing was.
This labor and delivery experience was pure bliss. I was able to sit up in the bed in a chair like position and pull on a bar that was attached to the bed while pushing; I felt in control and comfortable. My epidural was going strong, so I barely felt any pressure, which I liked. My doctor asked me to do a push test run to see if I could deliver feeling as numb and I was and the results were good. I really liked that I didn't feel a lot of pressure while pushing, thanks to my epidural, because I was in a lot of pain with my first child and I did not want to have to go through that again.
